CTIA 2011: LG Wireless Charging Pad WCP-700 Announced
Inductive charging is an interesting concept because of the potential applications. For one, we can theoretically rig our entire homes to charge devices wirelessly. But LG is starting simple with its new charging pad.

The LG WCP-700 charging pad can charge compatible mobile phones just by placing the phone on the pad. The charging system works with magnets on the charging pad, and with compatible inductive coils on the phone’s battery cover.
The LG WCP-700 features visual and audible cues that let the users know when the phone is charging. Since the pad will require that the phone be at most 7 mm (a quarter of an inch) distance from the center, you might want to make sure the charger is properly driving power into your phone.
LG says the WCP-700 wireless charger will be available in stores for $69.99 starting April, although no compatible phones have been announced.
