CTIA 2011: Jabra Freeway Bows At Show
One of the newest items to emerge from the CTIA 2011 show is the Jabra Freeway, a device that will really put some extra punch in your morning commute, or alternately, on those really, really long drives.

The Jabra Freeway is set to solve a whole lot of your in-car needs, but first, the basics: it contains a three-speaker system that is meant to be clipped to a car visor, and when you open the car door, it turns on, so that it’s ready to go when you are. And it even works in reverse; once you end a call, or open the door and get out of the car, the Freeway automatically shuts itself off.
From there, you’ll have a host of options, including a variety of voice controls like “answer call”, “end call”, “reject call” and more. You’ll also get the Voice Guidance system, in which the device actually tells you, verbally, how it’s doing in terms of things like Bluetooth pairing instructions, battery level, and connection status. And yes, it does have Bluetooth connectivity, so you can patch it in to all your various devices quickly and easily. You’ll also get caller ID (and verbal caller ID at that, so it actually announces who’s calling and what the number is), Virtual Surround Sound technology, and A2DP technology that will allow you to seriously multitask. How seriously? Some project that you’ll be able to listen to GPS directions, play music, and connect two Bluetooth devices at once thanks to this technology.
Now, not only will you get the Jabra Freeway itself when you buy it, but you’ll also get a one year subscription to the Voice Assist system, which is a voice-controlled app that will let you not only make calls, but also send or respond to email and text message by voice. And you’ll even be able to tweet from the car as social networking support is, once again, included.
The Jabra Freeway is set to hit stores this May for $129.
