Sprint Officially Announces The Nexus S 4G

It looks like this is going to be a big week in terms of mobile news and Sprint has kicked this Monday morning off with a few announcements of their own. Granted, that may not be as surprising as some of the other bits — AT&T buying T-Mobile. But that said, those on Sprint now have another solid Android smartphone coming soon.

Well, more specifically, the Samsung Nexus S 4G is going to be available sometime “this spring.” And while the release date was left as a rather general timeframe, we do have the price — $199.99 on a two-year agreement. Otherwise for those keeping track, the Nexus S 4G will also mark the 4th 4G phone announced by Sprint.

But more important that how many 4G capable phones that Sprint has in their lineup, lets discuss the specs of the Nexus S 4G. First and foremost, as evident by the name, this is a 4G device, however there will also be the 4 inch Super AMOLED display, 1GHz Samsung processor, 512M RAM, 16GB internal storage, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, 3.5mm headphone jack and Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Other features will also include a rear facing 5 megapixel camera with flash, front facing VGA camera, Near Field Communication (NFC) and a 1500 mAh battery. And lastly, the Nexus S 4G measures in at 4.88 x 2.48 x 0.44 inches and has a weight of 4.62 ounces. Moving away from the hardware specs, the Nexus S 4G will arrive with a vanilla Android build as well as access the to Android Market and the recently announced Sprint and Google Voice integration.

Once again, the Nexus S 4G is set to arrive in the spring and will retail for $199.99. All said and done, for the most part, this is the Nexus S that many had become familiar with when it was first available with T-Mobile back in mid-December of last year.
