iPad 2 To Hit Canadian Best Buy Locations This Friday

All right, Canadian gadget buffs out there, you’re about to get a sweet shot of good news that will really perk up your Monday. Better call in sick for the next couple days, because the iPad 2 is set to release right in your backyard this Friday.

Admittedly, we already knew that the international launch date for the iPad 2 was March 25th. Though after seeing delays crop up in the Czech Republic, and of course the recent announcement of delays in Japan following their multiple-pronged tragedy of earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disaster, it might well have been safe to say that the whole release had been derailed.

But word has emerged that Canadian Best Buy stores will indeed stock the new tablet from Apple starting this Friday. However, there are some things you’ll want to know ahead of the release date.

One, the launch is set to be handled on a first come, first served basis. No preorders will be taken, which means you can expect some pretty substantial lines outside the Best Buy near you if you want one of these. Two, the stock is expected to be diminished due to supply issues from the various Japanese suppliers who, as we all know, have just went through the aforementioned earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disaster trifecta.

And what this means is that you’re going to be in long lines for a very good chance that you won’t get an iPad 2 in the first place, unless of course you happen to be one of the people near the front of the line. This in turn suggests a whole lot of people will be calling in sick to work in Canada around about, oh, Thursday or so of this week.

Hopefully you’ll all manage to get one, because your next chance to get one won’t be for weeks if you miss your shot on launch day.
