BlackBerry 4G PlayBook For Sprint Getting Closer To Actual Launch

Sprint Branded BlackBerry 4G PlayBook Gets Official Teaser Website, Still Expected To Arrive This Summer

We knew the BlackBerry PlayBook was set to arrive with Sprint this summer as the BlackBerry 4G PlayBook, however as of this morning it now seems a bit more real. Well, not that the CES announcement was not real, but as of today Sprint has launched the teaser style promo page.

As for the details that one can learn, Sprint is basically just confirming what we have already seen. Bottom line, the 4G PlayBook is still being noted as coming “this summer” and there is the option to trade your email for notification of when the tablet will be available for sale.

That said, we are hoping that Sprint decides to offer a bit more information (maybe something price related) during their press event which is scheduled for tomorrow (March 22nd) during CTIA. But hoping about tomorrow aside and getting back to the teaser site, the page calls the PlayBook “a treat to touch” and notes that it will be the “first professional-grade tablet with a 7″ HD touchscreen combined with the blazing speed of 4G.”

Otherwise, the remaining points read as follows;

  • 1Ghz dual-core processor combined with 4G speeds for up to 10x faster than 3G
  • A totally uncompromised, full Web experience with Adobe Flash and HTML5
  • With true multitasking, runs multiple apps simultaneously
  • Bridge to a Blackberry smartphone for access to BBM, Email, Calendar, Address Book, and more
  • Rear- and front-facing HD video camera for an unrivaled media experience
  • Perfect for portability at only .4″ thick and weighing less than a pound
  • View and edit documents on-the-go

With that, those interested can go ahead and sign up to receive more from Sprint, or you can simply keep following TFTS and get the same information once its public. But past that, we are rather curious to see just how well the PlayBook does upon launch, after all there are still lots of BlackBerry loyals.
