Asus Transformer Gets Launch Dates, Confirmed Honeycomb
If your first reaction when you heard about the Asus Eee Pad Transformer was to think of the noises that Optimus Prime used to make when he changed out of the semi truck mode, you’re not at all alone. Seriously, we’ve got news in about Asus’ Eee Pad Transformer; more specifically, what it’s packing and when you can get your hands on it.

First off, confirmed finally is the news that the Asus Eee Pad Transformer will indeed be packing Honeycomb. And the first folks to lay hands on this little wonder will be none other than the folks in Asus’ home port, Taiwan. In fact, they’ll be getting it this Friday, according to reports, so don’t be at all surprised if a lot of people call in sick so they can get in line and get a little face time with the Transformer ahead of a long weekend.
Second, after the grand debut of the Asus Eee Pad Transformer in Taiwan, it will make a quick hop to the United States for the second stop in its world tour, and it won’t take long at all to make the jump, either. Current word says American markets will start seeing Transformers in early April.
Now, of course, the only word left is that of price. Right now, though, we don’t know just what that is, which is strange given that this thing is going to drop in a matter of days. Word is, though, it’s going to be less than $800, as evidenced by some reports that price tags with $799 on them have been seen, and stricken through. No word on whether that includes the docking kit, though hopefully it will.
So look for the Transformer to hit stores near you pretty soon–and sooner still if you already live in Taiwan–so you’ll be able to get your hands on Asus’ strange little 16 or 32 gig transforming tablet PC without too much more delay.
