iPad 2 Launch Delayed in Japan
Japan may be the origin of many great gadget brands. But it seems the Japanese might have to wait a bit longer for the iPad 2 to reach their shores.

While Apple originally planned to launch the iPad 2 in Japan this March 25, the course of events have forced them to change plans. In a statement, Apple spokeswoman Natalie Kerris says Apple’s employees in Japan are focusing on recovering from the disaster brought about by the recent earthquake, tsunami and nuclear incident.
According to financial statements, about 5% of Apple‘s revenue comes from Japan, but the company says the recent disaster will not put a dent to its financial standing. However, Apple might face difficulties sourcing supplies for various devices, such as NAND flash memory.
This is the same case for other technology companies that are into hardware manufacturing. Component supplies might be short due to a disruption in the global manufacturing chain. However, Apple maintains that their decision to indefinitely postpone the release of iPad 2 in Japan is a decision based on different reasons, and not simply because of supply shortages.
