Gazelle Says That 10,000 People Sold Their iPad 1 Since iPad 2 Announcement
Website Gazelle is a great way to get rid of your unwanted gadgets. You tell them what you have, and then they’ll give you cash for it. Now, they’re reporting that a large (?) amount of people traded in their iPad 1 in advance of the iPad 2 release. Does this mean we’ll see a large number of folks upgrade to the new tablets?

For those out of the know, Gazelle will buy your used gadgets from you at a fixed price. They actually have a kinda cool website where you say you have an Apple iPod 3G and it’s in good condition and they’ll quote you a price. Then, they buy it from you and pay for shipping. I believe that they turn around and sell them on eBay.
They’re reporting that 10,000 folks will have traded in their iPad 1 by today, which will make it the most-traded in gadget in their history. Within hours of the iPad 2 announcement, it’s reported that 2,400 people had already traded in their iPad in order to get cash for the iPad 2. There was a story that said that it took a few hours for Gazelle to adjust the prices for the iPad 1, so some folks were locking in that higher price for the iPad 1 before it was lowered following the iPad 2 announcement.
They’re currently offering $300 for a WiFi-only iPad 16GB in good condition, and it goes up for the 3G versions and more memory, obviously. That will go a long way towards filing the $499 price of the starting iPad 2, eh?
