Lenovo LePad Starts Selling in China
Lenovo earlier launched its LePad Android tablet at the recent CES 2011, introducing it as a tablet and notebook hybrid. The LePad has recently been available for purchase in China.

The Lenovo LePad U1 is powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and features a 10.1 inch capacitive touchscreen capable of multiple inputs. The screen outputs at 1280×800 pixels, which is at par with most high-end netbook screens of this size.
The LePad runs Android 2.2 FroYo, but with Lenovo’s own LeOS software running on top. The LePad comes with a 2-megapixel front-facing webcam, 16GB or 32GB of storage and Wi-Fi (no 3G model is available).
The tablet/notebook hybrid design is certainly interesting. Recall how Apple denounced the concept of netbooks earlier, calling these cheap and low-value. But they seemed to make a turnaround by launching the iconic iPad. It seems Lenovo wants the best of both worlds–a small computer that can turn into a tablet.
It seems Lenovo made good on its promise to ship the LePad in China by 1Q 2011. The U1 is said to ship worldwide by June. Word has it that the LePad will sell in the US market as the Lenovo “Skylight.”
