Lenovo LePad Makes The Required FCC Appearance, Comes Out Dubbed The Skylight
It looks like the Lenovo LePad is going to finally be coming available. Of course, that statement rings true based on the mid-February announcement from Lenovo where they stated that the tablet would begin shipping globally this June. And while we have not heard back from Lenovo at this point with anything more specific, there is a recent FCC filing which has revealed the user manual along with a new device name.

In reality, the FCC fling is just another required step in the lead up to a release and given that it is nice to see it happen. That said, this filing did have a few interesting tidbits. For one it included the user manual and revealed the second little tidbit — a new name.
According to the user manual, the LePad is going to be called the Lenovo Skylight when it lands here in the US. And in addition to the new name, that manual also included a decent amount of specs. For example, the display is 10.1 inches and has a resolution of 1280 x 800. Other specs include a Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8650A processor, 2 megapixel front facing camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, headphone jack and built-in speaker.
The one interesting part here is that is has long been speculated as coming with Android 3.0 Honeycomb, however the user manual is noting Android 2.2 Froyo.
All said and done, this like many other tablets may not end up being the iPad killing device that some are hoping to see, but at the same time, it will be another option to consider when making a purchase. Now if Lenovo would just fill in those final details and let us know exactly when the Skylight will be available and how much it will end up selling for. Because after all, regardless of how nice something looks and sounds, it cannot be successful if not priced well.
