New MacBook Pros Exhibit Flickering Display Problems
Apple made big leaps in technology when it announced the latest model MacBook Pro. Aside from the Intel Sandy Bridge architecture, it’s also the first to feature Light Peak, now known as Thunderbolt. But are we seeing problems this early?

MacBook Pro users who have just purchased the latest models are reporting an issue with certain displays, in particular the Apple 24-inch Cinema Display. When the computer is plugged into the display, the external monitor output exhibits power outages, flickering video, and other output flaws.
This problem only shows itself when said model monitor is plugged in, and it might suggest an issue with the connection interface, which is, in this case, Thunderbolt. This is the newest MacBook Pro’s universal dock developed in coopeartion with Intel. Thunderbolt lets users connect and daisy-chain various kinds of devices, such as video output and input, storage, communication and other perhipherals.
The issue might also be in the video card currently being used by the computer. The newest MacBook Pro can switch between Intel onboard graphics and a discrete AMD chip, depending on the need. Still, it might just be an isolated case. For now, Apple has not commented on the issue.
