Windows Phone 7 Smartphones Now Less Expensive With Telus
If you remember back, Telus ran a nice promotion on Windows Phone 7 devices back in December that involved a free Xbox 360 game. Well, as it turns, Telus is once again running an Xbox 360 promotion — except this time they are offering a free system as opposed to a free game. Plus, the required purchase is only a $29.99 Windows Phone 7 smartphone.

This latest round on this offer is in effect as of today and set to run through March 20th, 2011. The offer also seems to be rather simple, buy one of the two qualifying phones, activate it and claim your free Xbox 360.
The two phones include the LG Optimus 7 and the HTC 7 Surround and both require a three-year agreement with a rate plans of $50 or higher per month. Furthermore, based on the fine print it looks like this offer is only available in Ontario, Quebec or the Atlantic provinces. And more important, it is not available in retail locations such as Future Shop and Best Buy. That said, it seems like the easier deal is to simply shop online and wait for delivery.
Otherwise, you purchase and activate either the LG Optimus 7 or HTC 7 Surround and then wait for your free Xbox 360 to arrive by mail. And for those who may not be quite as patient, just a fair warning, it was noted that delivery could potentially take “up to 6 weeks.”
With that, the handsets are both running Windows Phone 7 and have features to include a 3.8 inch WVGA display, 5 megapixel camera, 1GHz processor and 16GB of internal storage. And the one big difference in the two devices, the HTC 7 Surround has integrated Dolby Surround Sound with SRS enabled speakers as well as a kickstand on the back.
All things considered, I am not sure a free Xbox 360 would convince me to make a three year commitment to a phone I did not really want, but at the same time if you were considering WP7 then this seems like a rather sweet deal.
