HTC 7 Trophy On Verizon Coming In June?
The folks at wpcentral have gotten some awesome spycam photos of what allegedly is the HTC 7 Trophy, or HTC Trophy as they call it, running on the Verizon Wireless network. You may remember that the HTC Trophy is a Windows Phone 7 device and that Verizon has yet to to offer such a phone – so this is kind of a big deal.

The screenshots show some interesting things, like the “My Verizon” app running. It also shows copy and pasting going on, which means, I guess, that the phone will ship to Verizon customers with the long-desired “NoDo” update that will bring copy and paste to the Windows Phone 7 OS. The HTC Trophy will also be a “Global Phone”, meaning that the CDMA phone will have a SIM card slot, ostensibly for a business man who is traveling to Europe or some place so he can just buy a cheap prepaid SIM card. I just find it funny that every other carrier in the world uses the GSM standard, while Verizon will be promoting this phone as a “global phone”.
Now for the bad news if you’re waiting for this phone – I guess they’ve heard that it isn’t coming out until June. Rumors had pinned the device as coming out around late March. The HTC Arrive is the first WP7 device for Sprint, and it was expected that both US CDMA carriers would get the new operating system at the same time. According to a Verizon rep, the HTC Trophy on Verizon is still only “testing” with corporate partners. That means it is fair away from being released and there’s no way it will make a late March release date.
As always, Microsoft, Verizon or HTC won’t confirm any of this. Stay tuned for more details.
