Minecraft Developer Mojang Reveals Next Title: Scrolls

Mojang Developing Digital Collectible Card Game Scrolls After Minecraft

Minecraft isn’t even out of its beta stage yet and already developer Mojang has revealed their next project: a digital collective card/board game called Scrolls. The game, which was shown at GDC 2011, will have players creating decks of scrolls which they can use on a grid-like battlefield to summon monsters and cast spells.

The game will come with both a single player campaign and a multiplayer component, which Mojang says is the main draw of the game. As a cool little feature, other players will be able to see which cards you prefer to use, as cards that are frequently used will become more and more weathered.

A private, limited alpha is planned for sometime later this year, and will be open to those who bought Minecraft while it was still in its alpha phase. An open beta will take place after the alpha, both of which will be free and will be used by Mojang to balance the various cards and the multiplayer mode.
