Next-gen MacBook to Get Thunderbolt Port Too?
The iPad 2 is coming tomorrow but not everyone is interested in tablet computers right now. Some people will want to buy the new MacBook Pros laptops that came out last week, and some will want the new MacBook notebooks that should be made official at some point in the future.

And the picture above suggests exactly that a new MacBook is coming. We’re looking at a leaked image that shows us the next-gen white MacBook, which will offer buyers Thunderbolt support. Granted the plastic MacBook isn’t as glamorous as the MacBook Pro generation, we’re still looking at an upcoming Apple device, which will sell well to a certain demographic.
Unfortunately besides the Thunderbolt port, clearly detailed in the image above, we don’t have any MacBook specs and features for you at this time. And while it’s interesting to see that Apple will include Light Peak ports in all its 2011 computers (we definitely assume the next iMacs and Mac Pros will also come with Light Peak support based on what we’ve seen so far), that’s not going to be a detrimental feature for the success of the white MacBook.
But we’ll certainly interpret this leak from a different perspective too: if Apple is interested in fitting its laptops with Light Peak ports then how long will we have to wait before we see iPhones, iPads and iPods come with Light Peak support too?
Thunderbolt, an impressive technology that will bring some remarkable transfer speeds between various devices and our computers, is still going to be just a concept at least until we get more Thunderbolt-ready peripherals and devices. Therefore the white MacBook will have to also impress with other characteristics other than the Light Peak connectivity.
We’ll definitely be back with more MacBook details as soon as we get more info on the launch of the next-gen plastic MacBook, and we definitely want to hear your thoughts on this particular item in Apple’s 2011 line-up. Anyone looking forward a white MacBook refresh?

Looks Photoshop.
I really hope that the white MacBook will have an SD card slot…
It will surely have a dual core sandy bridge and an updated amd graphics card.
I think that making the white MacBook closer to the newer 13 inch MacBook Pro would be a good idea.
HOWEVER, if NOT that, then I would reeeeeallly want Apple to re-introduce it in a unibody Black case to go with the white one. It would be good for Apple, and it would get more people to buy the MacBook. I love my MacBook, but it’s got a Core 2 Duo w/ 2.26 GHz. if they did something like put an SD slot of bigger updated specs in it, or black, sure I’d try and get one.
clearly photoshopped, thats just the normal minidisplay port, only the image next to has been changed.
ps. i own 2010 white macbook
@Jason,
That doesn’t mean it’s a Photoshop, lad.
Thunderbolt uses the same port interface as MiniDisplay.

I do think that the Blackbook will be back due to demand on sales and i hope that they will bring back MACBOOK ALUM in 14 inch.I do hope Apple will bring them back for 2011 Next-gen Macbook
It would be awesome if they swapped the cd drive for an SD card slot. It would save space and maybe let them fit a larger battery…
