iPad 2 Event to Star Steve Jobs After All?
A few days ago we were wondering what Apple executive will take the stage on March 2 to lead us into the future of the Apple tablet. The iPad 2 is coming out tomorrow at a media event hosted by Cupertino in San Francisco, and we still have no idea who’s going to publicly introduce the device to the crowds. But the word on the street is that Apple’s CEO is going to take the stage tomorrow, although it’s not clear yet whether he’s going to actually be the main speaker or just a guest.

What’s pretty puzzling is that the rumor is coming from an Italian blog that has it, apparently on good authority, that Steve Jobs will be present at Apple’s keynote.
Steve Jobs, whether you like the guy or not, is the most important man working at Apple. The iPad 2 will most likely sell very well in the following months no matter if the CEO will be actually present tomorrow. But his actual presence on stage is still very important for Apple and Apple’s future especially considering the recent health reports concerning Jobs, not to mention the unrevealed succession plan for Apple’s top position.
The iPad 2 has plenty of tough competition this year, and while it will surely hold the number one spot, both in mind and market share for the following months it kinda needs Steve Jobs’ enthusiasm and presentation skills. The iPad 2 will be magical mostly because the CEO will make the masses want it in a way no other Apple executive can, or at least nobody showed the same public speaking qualities just yet and not necessarily because it will beat the competition when it comes to hardware and software features.
I’m also pretty sure we’re going to criticize the iPad 2 right after it gets launched, just like we did last year, because, let’s face it, Apple will launch a tablet made after its own wishes and not those of the public. But if Steve Jobs will be part of its official launch, then Apple fans, haters, stock holders, rivals and the media will basically know that his vision will still leave its mark on the future of Cupertino.
