Amazon Appstore Launching This Month, Or So Says Millennial Media
Amazon has yet to officially offer a date as to when their Appstore is going to go live, however according to a recent Tweet from Millennial Media — the Amazon Appstore is going to launch fairly soon.

The Twitter message was simple and to the point, which really means there is little room for anyone to simply misunderstand. The message reads as follows;
“Launching this month! Amazon Appstore for #Android—learn more here:http://bit.ly/4C4HBm”
As for that learn more here link, that leads off to a Millennial blog post detailing “what’s in store for Android developers.”
Needless to say, while we would like to see the Amazon Appstore launch this month, we are going to have to keep out excitement in check until we hear the official word from directly from Amazon.
Otherwise, there is probably still quite a bit to learn about the Amazon Appstore, which we presume will come by way of Amazon in due time. Still, we cannot help but feel some excitement after learning the details that came available last week, which for those who may have missed that post.
The Amazon Appstore will allow users to begin downloading apps even before they have a device in hand — allowing them to get a head start on the setup process. In addition to making things easier for the users, the Amazon Appstore should also help developers with app sales. It has been said that the Appstore will make use of the “Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought” section that many have come to be familiar with in terms of Amazon.
Another interesting portion of this will come in with Google and what they may or may not say in terms of Android launching an Android Appstore of their own. Granted, they cannot stop them, but at the same time we have to wonder if they would be happy. On one side this could potentially encourage more use of Android, but at the same time, Amazon is a rather big name and could have some pull in terms of app sales and that may sting Google just a bit.
