iPhone 4 iOS 4.3 Unlock (Baseband 04.10.01) Confirmed by iPhone Dev Team? [MuscleNerd Confirms iOS 4.3 Unlock Will Work on iPhone 4 With Baseband 04.10.01; Still No Release Date Mentioned]

Yesterday we were looking at tweets confirming that iPhone 4 units with new baseband (2.10.04 and 3.10.01) will be unlocked, eventually. We have no idea when or how but there is apparently an exploit that will work with both of them. Today we hear from the iPhone Dev Team, via MuscleNerd, that baseband 04.10.01 also appears to be susceptible to iOS unlocks, but we’re still left wondering when an update Ultrasn0w tool will be released.

iOS 4.3 is going to be made official in the near future, maybe as soon as Wednesday during Apple’s iPad 2 announcement. Following the launch of iOS 4.3, we expect the usual hackers to provide fast updates to the current jailbreak tools that work on all current iOS devices. But once iOS 4.3 gets released we might see all iPhone 4 units out there finally get unlocked.

The iPhone 4 was been launched back in June 2010, and it was jailbroken quite fast. But most iPhone 4 units are still unlockable almost nine months after the phone hit stores, and that’s certainly annoying for certain iPhone 4 customers. So why isn’t anyone coming out with an unlock tool for these new basebands? Well, the generally accepted answer is that the hackers have been waiting and waiting for Apple to roll out various iOS versions before launching this final unlock. But Apple came out with those various iOS updates but the new Ultrasn0w unlock tool has not yet been appropriately updated.

One of MuscleNerd’s recent tweets confirmed that the iPhone Dev Team is still dedicated to launching a proper iPhone 4 unlock tool. He basically said that baseband 04.10.01 is vulnerable in iOS 4.3 beta 3 (see above), which can only mean the Team is working on a commercial unlock version for iPhone 4 units with new basebands. But we have no idea when they’ll have it out in the wild, so stick around folks, as we’re going to give you more details on the iPhone 4 unlock in the near future.
