HTC Thunderbolt Mentioned by Verizon on Own Facebook Page; Release Date Not Public

The Thunderbolt is not ready to hit stores yet and last time we checked, and we keep pretty close tabs on the launch of the handset for you, it was delayed due to poor battery life caused by extensive 4G LTE usage. Allegedly.

The word on the street is that HTC is fixing such issues with a new firmware, although there’s nothing official about such Thunderbolt problems. It’s also being rumored that the Thunderbolt will be available in stores either later this week, on March 4 or a little later, on March 10. Naturally, we have no confirmation on those release dates from Verizon yet so don’t get your hopes up yet!

But Verizon did decide to update its Facebook page today and remind subscribers that the first Android 4G LTE handset in the world is coming soon:

Hey fans, we appreciate all the excitement about the anticipated launch of the ThunderBolt by HTC. We’re excited too! Verizon 4G LTE is America’s fastest, most advanced 4G network & we want to ensure the advanced technology behind our first 4G LTE phone is flawless. We will announce its release date as soon as it is confirmed. Thanks for your support & patience while we work to bring you the ThunderBolt by HTC.

Naturally Verizon didn’t make the mistake to pronounce, or rather write, any release dates in this Facebook update so we’ll still have to wait for the official press release to come along announcing the Thunderbolt.

Coincidentally today is February 28, once a rumored launch date for the Thunderbolt, so maybe that’s why Verizon decided to make sure that you’re willing to wait for a few more days to buy the HTC handset. In the mean time we’ll be waiting for early Thunderbolt buyers, those of you that pre-ordered the device from Best Buy, to share more details with us about their Thunderbolt-buying experience.
