Archos Arnova Tablets Come In Two Sizes, Both Launched [Archos Arnova Tablets Start Their European Tour With Wider Launch To Come]
Been quite a day for tablet news, and we’ve got one more exciting bit to show off here–a pair of fresh tablets from Archos have just emerged, and you’ll be able to get your Archos Arnova in one of two sizes, eight or ten inch. Though the bad news is you’ll only be able to get them in Europe, at least, for now.

But the eight and ten inch Archos Arnova tablets–not surprisingly dubbed the Archos Arnova 8 and the Archos Arnova 10–both run Android 2.1, and include resistive touchscreen displays (of indeterminate resolution, though according to reports they both support 720p video playback, which gives you some idea of what the resolution is on those displays), a 600 MHz Rockchip RK2818 processor, wi-fi connectivity and a G-sensor.
There are some differences aside from the obvious in display sizes–while both the Archos Arnova 8 and the Archos Arnova 10 include support from microSD cards, the Arnova 8 will provide four gigs of onboard storage, and the Arnova 10 will fully double that amount.
You might be wondering just how these two tablets will manage to compete with the legions of other tablets already in the field–initial word says that they’re going to be going after the pricing structures like crazy here, offering the eight inch model at the respectably low price of $149, and the 10 inch model will only put that price up a little at $199.
Not bad if you’re looking for a good buy on a tablet PC, and word is they’ll be making their way to the United States and other markets not too long after their European tour gets its hash settled. But will they manage to compete? I’d give a good chance–Archos may not be as well known as Apple and Motorola and the like, but they have been known to do a solid job with their tablets, and these definitely have the bargain edge to them. It’ll remain to be seen just how well it goes, but I look for them to give a good report.
