Nintendo 3DS Sells Out In First 24 Hours Of Availability In Japan

400,000 Japanese 3DS Units Sold In First 24 Hours Of Availability, More On The Way

The Nintendo 3DS is off to a good start over in Japan, as Andriasang is reporting that the 400,000 units Nintendo shipped to Japanese retailers sold out almost instantly. Of course, this surprises no one because Nintendo and handhelds are both pretty big in Japan. So is hunting for monsters. Really, anything that isn’t Microsoft is big in Japan.

There’s hope for those who didn’t get the 3DS the first time around, as Andriasang is also saying that some stores received a new shipment of units Sunday morning. Whether or not those are already sold out is anyone’s guess, but at least it shows that Nintendo is quick in pushing out new shipments. Reports are also saying that, of the 8 3DS launch games, Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask, Winning Eleven 3D, Ridge Racer 3D, and Street Fighter IV 3D Edition are the most popular.

The 3DS launches in Europe on March 25th, North America on March 27th, and Australia on March 31st.
