PS3 Hacker To Sony: You'll Have To Kill Me To Get Me To Stop

Famous German Hacker Tells Internet That Sony Will Have To Kill Him To Stop Him From PS3 Hacking

Do you remember graf_chokolo? He’s the hacker/modder-type who has been attempting to restore the OtherOS functionality to the PS3. In the process, he gained hypverisor access to the PlayStation 3 – that is machine-level command over the system. A few days ago, German police raided his home and Sony Computer Entertainment-Europe (SCEE) sued him for €1,000,000 ($1,374,600). But, Graf isn’t giving up, and said publicly that Sony will have to kill him to get him to stop.

Regarding his legal trouble with Sony and the police raid, graf_chokolo wrote (bold mine):

So, SONY you failed again, you took my equipment but my mind is still free and you canot control it. You failed again. They are just tools, i can get new ones and will continue my HV reversing and bringing back PS3 Linux which you took from us. If you want me to stop then you should just kill me because i cannot live without programming, HV and Linux kernel hacking  You know who am i and where i live, so come and get me !!!

The “graf_chokolo” case is just another story in Sony’s crackdown on PS3 hacking and piracy. Here in the United States, SCEA has been waging a legal battle against “Geohot” who is probably most known for being the first to jailbreak the iPhone, but he also did preliminarily hacking against the PlayStation 3.

Up until the first PS3 Jailbreak was introduced last year – the Sony PlayStation 3 was known as one of the most bulletproof systems against piracy and that sort of thing. Hackers would tell you that the increased interest in PS3 hacking was due to Sony removing the OtherOS functionality that allowed folks to install Linux or something on their PlayStation 3.

Oh please! Save the drama for your mama. This guy acts as if he’s splitting the atom or discovering the cure for cancer. He’ll change his outlook after he’s been in jail a few days.

Stupid guy. he really is stupid! he thinks he can do whatever he wants without consequences, I hate asshat programmers like this guy who thinks its ok to mess around with other peoples programs.

if he indeed has such knowledge he is wasting it. Clearly a dumbass!. im all for sony in this one

I paid for otherOS functionality- if I bought a car with a V8 and an ECU update killed 4 of the cylinders because some moron decided my car was not green enough I would be furious.

Sony removed a feature I paid for- they deserve anything that follows…. There were years of safe hack free time for this console then some big head at sony figured that otherOS was a pointless feature so they killed it…. now their hv has been hacked and their entire product roadmap will be affected.

This is called the law of unintended consequences- if they had left the otherOS feature on there then the desire to hack the platform would have been much less.

Yeah this guy is a moron, but you just gave him a righteous reason to “fight the man”- and this guy is outspoken- just think of the others out there not talking, breaking away at millions in security research. All because sony removed one little feature.
