Motorola Xoom Root Available Too; That Was Fast
Earlier today we showed you how to unlock the newly released Motorola Xoom and we expected to see the devices rooted pretty soon too. Well it looks like there’s a root method available for the Xoom already and, in case that’s something you want to do to your brand new Android tablet, then you can go ahead and do it right away.

We have detailed instructions for you, not that we’d advise you to root your Xoom tablet, even if rooting is legal. But whatever you do in your spare time to the devices you paid for it’s your business and your business alone. And here’s what you need to do to root your new Xoom:
• Download the XOOM root zip.
• Unzip the package.
• Put your junk in the box.
• adb reboot bootloader (skip the next 3 steps if you have already unlocked via fastboot)
• fastboot oem unlock
• wait for reboot
• adb reboot bootloader
• fastboot flash boot rootboot.img
• fastboot reboot
• wait for reboot
• adb remount
• adb shell push su /system/bin
• adb shell ln –s /system/bin/su /system/xbin/su
• adb shell chmod 4755 /system/bin/su
• adb push Superuser.apk /system/app
Regular Android users may want to stick to using Honeycomb as it is available on the Xoom right now while Android hardcore fans will most likely root the device to get it to do various magical things for them. The SD Card slot is still going to be locked for a while which means you won’t be able to use any custom recovery tools on the Xoom right away, although that’s something that will be dealt with by the Android community in the near future.
Let us hear your thoughts on the Xoom root method, especially if you have used it on your Honeycomb tablet already.
