HTC Aria On AT&T Getting Android 2.2 Update Today [AT&T Customers Rocking HTC's Great Mid-End Android Phone Will Be Getting Some Froyo Today]
The HTC Aria on AT&T is one of my favorite mid-priced Android phones out there. While AT&T historically has been one of the worst carriers regarding Android updates, they’ve slowly been changing that and now, via their Facebook page, the company has announced that HTC Aria users should start receiving an update to Android 2.2.

The HTC Aria, which was first released in June of last year, originally shipped with Android 2.1. It looks like AT&T is serious about Android updates, as this week we saw them start rolling out an update for another Android phone – the Samsung Captivate.
Generally, this all looks like it’s apart of AT&T new focus on Android. At CES this year, they announced they were going all-in on Android and stole the show with their new phone – the Motorola Atrix. In a video posted on YouTube (embedded below) AT&T’s “Android Guy” Dante Martin confirmed that AT&T is dedicated to Android. As I’m sure many of our readers will know, AT&T was sort of asleep at the wheel with Android early on – I believe it was due to them carrying the iPhone. If Uncle Steve doesn’t want you to carry those Android phones, you won’t.
Here are the specs on the HTC Aria:
- Android 2.1 (now Android 2.2) w/ HTC Sense
- 3.2-inches
- 600MHz processor
- 384MB RAM
- 512MB memory
- 5MP camera
For those interested, Amazon Wireless is selling the HTC Aria for only $0.01 with a new contract.
