I frequently lie abed racked with worry about what exactly it is that I’ll be doing on the 20th of September 2011. Microsoft and Epic have somehow gotten wind of this and decided to allay my fears with the announcement that Gears of War will be getting released that same day.

Speaking (or writing) as someone who has briefly played the multiplayer portion of Gear of War 3 I can safely place my level of anticipation for the game roughly somewhere between “Hell yeah!” and “Aw hell yeah!”. Giving you control of everything from a tiny Ticker to one of those blokes who carry around Final Fantasy VII swords and are actually proportional to their size, Gears of War 3 multiplayer will probably turn up just in time to receive the influx of people tired of buttock shooting and looking for the next big thing. Nice little cycle there, Epic.
