EA & DICE's New Battlefield 3 Trailer Has Gameplay Footage
Remember back in the day when a trailer was supposed to show off the game it was advertising? You’d get to see some people, maybe even a few buildings. Somebody was even doing something remotely interesting in it if you were lucky. The new Battlefield 3 trailer has people, buildings and some other stuff that might have become interesting if left on the screen for less than the blink of an eye. It just doesn’t want you to see them.

Perhaps I’m being too rough on it, it does after all show us slightly more than the last one and we can at least get a feel for the visual style. If it gets any grittier it’s going to start crunching between your teeth while you play and if you ever switch over to CNN by mistake you’ll probably find it hard to tell the difference, but there may be something to the ultra-realistic aesthetic, especially if DICE has managed to rifle through their pockets and find enough cash for some proper writers to bring the narrative backbone up to scratch. Don’t get me wrong, the Battlefield 2 narrative ran circles around Black Ops’s, but then again so does that of most travel agency fliers. The trailer is viewable by following the via link.
