Android 2.2 Update Begins Today For Samsung Captivate Users With AT&T
AT&T teased Samsung Captivate users earlier in the month when they posted the Android 2.2 screenshots on their support website, and truth be told, it showed us that there were plenty of people angry with both Samsung and AT&T. Well, flash forward till today and AT&T has given the good news — the Android 2.2 roll-out is set to begin as of today.

The details have come by way of the AT&T Facebook page where they offered this simple update;
“Great news for Samsung Captivate owners! The Android 2.2 upgrade is coming tomorrow! We’ll post a link here to the Samsung site with instructions to install the upgrade tomorrow.”
Of course, at this time the ‘tomorrow’ is really today because that was posted some 23 hours ago. And while we would have normally posted that quicker, in this case it seemed best to pass on the good news with only a short wait remaining. That seems to be the good news, however as of now there has not been any further updates to the Facebook page as to actual availability or directions for users.
That said, according to some of the comments posted, the update will be able to be downloaded from the Samsung website at http://www.samsung.com/us/froyoupgrade2_2/captivate. But then again, probably the best bet at this point is to keep an eye out for an alert on your device or grab your USB cable and pop into Kies from time to time and check that way.
In addition, AT&T also stated that the update for the HTC Aria will be coming “very soon.” Sounds good, until you remember that we have heard the term ‘coming soon’ fairly often when dealing with Android software updates.
With that, all I can say is that if AT&T and/or Samsung somehow screw this up and do not release the update today as announced they better have some extra customer care reps on staff because they are likely to be flooded with angry callers. Seriously, I am thinking that some who have been waiting and hoping are ready to revolt at this point.
