Apple Announces March 2nd Media Event, Looks Like An iPad 2 Announcement

Apple Invitation Invites Attendees To See What 2011 "Will Be The Year Off"

Things seemed pretty certain that Apple was going to have an announcement on March 2nd, and well, that date has since been officially confirmed. As of this posting the invitations have been sent and those who were invited have likely begun making plans to journey out to the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco.

And true to Apple event history, the invitation leaves plenty of room for speculation. As you can see from the above image, there is the iCal like graphic stating the date, which is peeling away from an iPad. Needless to say, one can say it looks like we are going to see the iPad 2 announcement on that date. Which iPad 2 on March 2nd, 2 and 2, it seems rather fitting. But number patterns aside, perhaps the more interesting portion is the tagline below the date which reads;

“Come see what 2011 will be the year of.”

Based on that it sounds like we are going to be seeing more than just the iPad 2. Of course, many are waiting for the second generation iPad to arrive, you know, the one that has been the subject of numerous rumors including how it will go buttonless. And maybe more realistic, how it will have both front and rear facing cameras as well as an improved display.

Me personally, I am hoping to see something else announced, maybe a look into the future as to what iOS will bring later in the year. After all, we have been talking more and more about the iPhone 5 lately, how about the iPhone 5 (or iPhone 4G) running iOS 5.0?

That said, March 2nd is just one week from today — next Wednesday. With that, there is plenty of time for speculation, but rest assured, the crew here at TFTS will be all over the announcement letting you know all the details.
