2011 MacBook Pro Specs & Features Revealed, Pictures Too
The new 2011 MacBook Pro laptops are the talk of the town. Apple is set to refresh its popular laptop line tomorrow, February 24, and we already have leaked specs and features, not to mention actual pictures of the next-gen notebook for you.

The leak below shows us the next-gen 13-inch MacBook Pro, and it’s possible that we’re looking at an entry-level configuration. Among the specs and features below we also find a new “High Speed” technology dubbed Thunderbolt, which is most likely that Light Peak technology conceived by Apple and developed by Intel in the past couple of years.

But let’s quickly look at these specs list written in German and turn it in English:
- 2.3GHz dual-core Intel Core i5, 3MB L3 Cache
- 4GB DDR3 SDRAM clocked at 1,333MHz
- 320GB HDD, 5400 R/min
- 13.3-inch LED backlit-LCD with 1,280 x 800 resolution
- Intel HD Graphics 3000 graphics card, 384MB DDR3 SDRAM
- FaceTime HD Camera
- 8X SuperDrive
- Thunderbolt (Light Peak) port with Mini DisplayPort
- SDXC Slot, Firewire 800, 2 USB 2.0 ports
- 10/100/1000 Ethernet port
- 802.11n Wi-Fi
- Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
- Backlit-keyboard
- Preinstalled Mac OS X and iLife
- 32.5 x 22.7 x 2.41cm and 2.04kg
These rumored specs seem to be pretty much in line with what we’re expecting from the new MacBook Pro laptops although nothing can be confirmed yet.
We’re definitely looking at some interesting new specs there with the Thunderbolt port (strange name there) being one of them. Light Peak could be made official tomorrow too as Intel has a special event dedicated to this new data transfer technology. And since we don’t really believe in coincidences we must conclude that Apple will indeed launch a Light Peak-enabled MacBook Pro generation on the same day. Speaking of coincidences, we can’t but point out that the Motorola Xoom is also coming out on the same day, so February 24 looks like a pretty busy day already.

In fact, we have an image showing the new port in action, and we can’t wait to see whether this picture shows the real thing or we’re looking at some fake “leak”.

I’m really hoping they will add a PCI Express port to there 15.4 inch line up. The 2008 models had it along with a dvi port. PCI express would be perfect for the new USB 3.0 that is comming out.
