T-Mobile To Launch New Unlimited Data Plan Later This Year [T-Mobile Prepping New Unlimited Data Plan For Those Using More Than 5GB Of Data Per Month]
T-Mobile currently has an “unlimited” data plan available on their website, though in truth they have a soft cap on that unlimited plan that kicks in once you hit 5GB. I guess in one respect this is a nice option to have as T-Mobile does not charge overages, however once the 5GB soft cap is reached the data slows to a crawl.

And while I am fairly certain that T-Mobile would say that very few people actually use that much per month, they must have at least some considering there is news of a new unlimited data plan that may be launching later this year. Well, truth be told, the plan is noted as being “an unlimited plan for more than 5GB of monthly data.”
That said, we do not have all that much to go on at this point as the details are coming by way of a screenshot of an internal T-Mobile system. Otherwise, the plan is expected to come available “sometime this year.” So basically, this makes it seem like T-Mobile will soon have two unlimited data plans — one for those who use less than 5GB per month and one for those who use more than 5GB per month. Talk about being confusing and also in need of re-branding.

Anyway, there will still be the question of what the price will be, so lets try and maintain the excitement level. Not to mention, we are also left wondering whether or not there will be a soft cap limit on this unlimited plan also. Maybe the unlimited plan for those who use more than 5GB of data will soft cap at 10GB. Of course, that is just my poor attempt at sarcasm.
Bottom line, the details are sparse, however it looks like there is hope for those who regularly go over 5GB of data per month and are tired of having their surfing speeds slowed to a crawl.
