iPad 2 Delay Rumors Sends Apple's Stock Down
This past weekend, rumors hit the web that the iPad 2, iPad 3, or something, wouldn’t be coming until later this year, around Fall 2011. Wall Street was closed yesterday for the President’s Day holiday, but today, AAPL opened to a drastic decline. Seems the markets don’t like rumors that one of Apple’s golden products could be delayed.

There’s a lot of talk that the next iPad, or a version of it, could be a 7-inch model. Steve Jobs bashed the 7-inch tablets during an earnings call last year, but we here at TFTS are really fond of them. I reviewed the Samsung Galaxy Tab for this site, and I also own the Archos 70 Android tablet. If you’re used to the iPad, the size seems a bit small at first, but it really is comfortable and is quite portable with the smaller size. I think Apple would do well with a 7-inch “iPad Nano” or what not.
Further adding to the rumors that the iPad Nano wouldn’t be coming until this fall, Reuters reported that a Wall Street firm was saying that Foxconn was having supply shortages at their plants Far East and that that was going to cause the regular iPad 2 to be delayed until later in the year. Of course, nothing has been confirmed from Apple.
It’s worth noting that the whole market – the NASDAQ and NYSE are doing poorly today, mainly because of concerns in the Middle East. But, AAPL is doing a touch worse than the markets, and I think it’s caused by the iPad rumors. (Disclaimer: Probably best not to follow my financial advice.).
