Xtremer Ultra HTPC Gets Leaked Ahead of CeBIT Show [Tiny But Potent Home Theater PC From Xtremer Gets Leaked With Specs And Price]
The home theater PC is a wonderful concept. Take a device that you’re already familiar with, that has been giving you access to the internet for years (where, I might add, a hefty quantity of entertainment options awaits), and shrink it down to the point where it will easily fit near your television, giving you a monitor both bigger and higher in resolution than you’d ever find anywhere else. That’s the home theater PC in a nutshell, and that’s just what you’ll be looking at with the Xtreamer Ultra HTPC.

Granted, most of us have likely never heard of Xtreamer before this, but you’ve got good reason to now. They were planning to show this off out at the CeBIT show this year, but it seems, as is so often the case, leaks put paid to that launch well beforehand. Not that it matters, frankly, as this is still a pretty interesting piece all the same.
You’ll have a hefty slug of options here, starting with your choice of processors (a dual-core Atom D525 or Ion 2), as much as four gigs of DDR3 RAM, HDMI and DVI outputs, a hefty six USB ports, and three different connectivity options (Bluetooth, wi-fi or straight gigabit Ethernet) and not surprisingly, a remote. Those who want optical drives or TV tuners will have to add on, sadly, but considering the price tag on this one–100 euro, or about $136 US–you’ll be able to trick it out as you see fit.
A further bit of bad news: this is planning to show at CeBIT, which means you’ll have to wait a few weeks to lay hands on one of these. But still, it should be sufficiently impressive to convince you to hold out a while, and resist the siren call of the Boxee Box, just waiting for you.
