Motorola Atrix 4G Rooted [Motorola's Upcoming Atrix 4G Smartphone Already Rooted, Even if Phone Isn't Out to Market Yet]

Motorola’s upcoming flagship Atrix 4G has not yet even shipped, and the superphone has already been rooted. The folks over at XDA Developers forum were able to gain root access, which opens up a lot of previously locked Android features.

Forum members from XDA Developers have announced the first ever rooting of the Motorola Atrix 4G, which is set to be released later today (for pre-orders). Gaining root access to the smartphone will enable users to uninstall bloatware, customize Android fully, run backup apps, and access Android’s innards.

More useful options would include Android FroYo’s mobile hotspot feature, among others. The hack does not involve custom or homebrew kernels, though, as Motorola has the bootloader encrypted, and probably buried the key deep below the ground in a bomb shelter somewhere.

The Motorola Atrix 4G was hailed as among the most impressive smartphones at the recent CES and MWC, which TFTS was fortunate enough to attend. If you’re holding off on ordering an Atrix 4G for fear of not being able to root it, now you can set your doubts aside.
