Lenovo Confirms LePad Tablet Will Begin Shipping Worldwide In June
Lenovo may have officially announced the LePad tablet back during CES this past January, but that does not mean that was the first we had ever heard. The Lenovo LePad has been talked about for some time now, but the good news in that respect — it looks like it will be available sooner rather than later. Of course, while Lenovo has narrowed time a release time frame, they still remain rather vague.

Anyway, back during that January announcement, Lenovo simply stated that the device would be available in China in the first quarter of 2011 and that it would be selling for RMB 8,888 for the complete set (tablet and notebook) and RMB 3,499 for the LePad tablet by itself.
Well, flash forward till the present day and we have now learned that Lenovo will have this available in China beginning next month and available worldwide starting in June. Sadly though, nothing in terms of an exact release date. Not to mention, the price was still kept quite so we are going to have to fall back on previous word. Still, when you consider the Chinese price of RMB 3,499, that is about $520 in terms of US dollars and therefor sounds a bit on the high side.
Of course, despite being told that it will rollout worldwide, that does not necessarily mean the LePad will ever hit US shores. At present, the rollout was described as being worldwide with nothing anymore specific given. In fact, according to PC World, Lenovo spokesperson Jay Chen failed to say which areas would see a release.
Then again, while this looks like an interesting product there are still some unanswered questions such as a full and complete set of specs. So far we do know that the LePad will have a 10.1 inch (1280 x 800) display along with a 1.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and Android 2.2 with a custom skin over top.
