Google Chrome Pesonal Blocklist Extension Blocks Domains From Search Results

Google Doesn't Outright Block Content Farms From SERPs, But Lets Users Exclude Low-Quality Sites on Their Own

So-called content farms often have low-quality content, but Google won’t ban them outright. You can filter these with a Chrome Extension, instead.

Do a search on a relevant keyword of your choice, and you will likely see a handful of spammy sites at the top of the results page. These content farms churn out articles at an alarming pace, but many are considered low-quality articles produced at very low cost. In some cases, content farms are believed to produce search-engine spam, which are, in essence, keyword-stuffed content riddled with advertising.

The Personal Blocklist extension can be used to exclude specific domains from Google searches. Google is not blocking these sites outright, but the Chrome extension actually acts as a crowd-sourced research mechanism. Whenever a user blocks a certain domain, the extension transmits this information to Google, which collects the data and uses these in its search algorithms. Sites considered to be spammy will then likely be penalized in their rankings.
