Verizon iPhone 4 Sales May Not Have Meet Everyones Expectations

New Verizon iPhone Stats Show In-Store Sales Not Much Higher Than AT&T iPhone Sales

The Verizon iPhone was a long awaited and much anticipated device, and as it turns out, the pre-order sales may end up being better as compared to the day to day sales. Or, possibly more accurate, the pre-order sales may have had more excitement as compared to the day to day sales.

In addition, it is now being said that the Verizon iPhone sales have not been doing as well as Apple and Verizon had been anticipating. Of course, this is not coming from either Apple or Verizon so we should take this for what it is, word from an unnamed source.

That said, the data they are presenting is still interesting to see. According to the details given, the figures presented are “unit sales totals from five Apple stores” of both Verizon and AT&T iPhones. As for which five stores are included here, sadly that information was not given, however it was noted that two of them are “very prominent Apple stores.” Nonetheless, it would be nice to know the locations because that may have an affect such as in an area as San Francisco or New York where people often complain about poor AT&T service.

Anyway, the figures given are as follows;

  • Thursday: Verizon = 909, AT&T = 539
  • Friday: Verizon = 916, AT&T = 680
  • Saturday: Verizon = 660, AT&T = 471
  • Sunday: Verizon = 796, AT&T = 701
  • Monday: Verizon = 711, AT&T = 618

Interesting to see that on Thursday there was quite a bit of difference, however that number has only gotten closer and closer every day since. And given that, one could speculate that these numbers would soon be close to the same. Furthermore, this same source also included some other little tidbits such as how the pre-orders totaled “around” 550,000 units and that 30 percent of buyers came from Android, 25 percent were BlackBerry users and only 14 percent switched from an AT&T iPhone to a Verizon iPhone.
