Steve Jobs Makes Appearance On Apple Campus
Last month, Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced he was taking another medical leave of absence, due to (according to an inside source at BusinessWeek) his body is beginning to reject his liver he received in a transplant. But, Steve isn’t taking it easy at home. Sources inside Apple have reported to the Wall Street Journal and TechCrunch that Jobs is still very much involved to the daily operations at Apple. And, a surprise visit by the CEO to the Apple campus in Cupertino has gotten all the Apple fans excited.

According to the ‘Journal, Jobs is personally working on the next iPhone and iPad. He’s doing this by doing business meetings at his home as well as over the phone. (No FaceTime, Steve?) He also allegedly made an appearance on the Apple campus. TechCrunch reports that his return to the Campus wasn’t to address any single issue, and (as you can imagine), seeing El Jobs on the campus caused much happiness amongst the Apple corps as their faithful leader returned (at least for a small while).
Jobs return’ to Apple could be just what the company needed. The source told the WSJ that there is a mood of sadness around Apple since Jobs went on his medical leave, though folks are said to be focused on their work and projects. Officially, Apple Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook is acting as Interim CEO. Cook did a similar role during Jobs’ previous medical leaves. When the ‘Journal asked Apple about the rumors of Jobs working from home and coming into Apple, they only repeated what was said in the letter announcing Jobs’ departure – that he remains involved in major strategic decisions.
Jobs’ health has been the cause of much controversy both on Wall Street and on tech blogs. It’s sparked a public debate about where the line between personal privacy and pertinent investor knowledge is drawn. Undoubtably, Jobs is a driving force behind Apple’s success. If (as some have said) Jobs won’t be returning to Apple from this medical leave, investors would certainly like to know that.
