MWC 2011 Live: HTC Wildfire S Hands-on Preview

HTC Wildfire S Official at CES – The Tiny Smartphone That Could?

The HTC Wildfire S has been officially launched today and we went in for a hands-on preview for you. The phone will probably be the cheapest Android handset in HTC’s current lineup, not counting the two Facebook phones we saw earlier.

The Wildfire S is not an entry-level handset like, say the Samsung Galaxy Mini, but it’s still a little device, ready to impress the ladies, or at least that’s the first impression I got. Don’t get me wrong, ladies, you deserve powerful smartphones too, but this Wildfire S is just a cute handset that seems to be made with ladies in mind.

The handset is certainly a solid device ready to offer a great Android performance. We’re looking at Android Gingerbread under the hood, a 600MHz process and a 3.2-inch display. It would only need a button to become a ChaCha or Salsa; that’s how similar it is when it comes to specs and features.

Therefore the Wildfire S is a light Android handset that will offer you a light Android experience and prepare you for a true smartphone. But what I don’t understand is what the S particle after the name means. Is it a direct hit at Apple or at the Galaxy S? The same question goes for the Desire S and the Incredible S which we’ll show you in hands-on posts too.
