MWC 2011: Motorola Not Keen On Windows Phone 7 Because It's A "Closed Platform"
Looks like Microsoft will need to get used to the sound of closing doors as another one has just slammed shut or near enough as not make that much of a difference. This time it’s Motorola who is saying in no uncertain terms that Windows Phone 7 is the furthest thing from their minds and handsets right now. Or as Motorola exec Christy Wyatt put it, “it’s not something we’re entertaining now.”

There’s a litany of reasons for Motorola’s position on the matter, not the least of which was that “there were a bunch of things that we believed about Microsoft that ended up not being true, mostly about what functionality it would have in what period of time,” to hear them say it. A more unexpected one is that Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 will be a “closed platform” and apparently that would cramp Motorola’s style. Who knew Motorola put such a price on openness? Then again, they did do a Linux phone back in the day.
