MWC 2011 Live: Samsung Galaxy Mini Hands-on Preview
The Samsung Galaxy Mini is the last handset part of the cheap Galaxy family and we went in for a hands-on preview with it too. The handset is definitely not impressing the crowds here, but it could very well be your kid’s first smartphone.

Cheap, affordable, light, “cute” and pretty dependable, this Android-running machine will be available in stores at some point in the very near future. The Mini is, just as its name suggests, a mini smartphone that’s going to offer you a mini Android experience.
However I’d definitely replace a Nokia Symbian handset, which I carry as a backup phone at MWC (for actual phone features) with such a Mini Android alternative.
I have criticized before Samsung’s decision of crippling its Android flagship line with sub-par handsets like the four devices we’ve shown you today, but I do understand these kind of devices target a certain public and, ultimately, they will bring in plenty of cash for Samsung too.
Therefore I wouldn’t be surprised if that iPhone nano handset really took off later next year. After all Apple doesn’t really have any device ready to compete with entry- to mid-ranged Android devices yet.
