MWC 2011 Live: Samsung Galaxy Ace Hands-on Preview

The Galaxy S Family Welcomes Us at the Samsung MWC Stand, Starting with the Ace

Besides the Samsung Galaxy S and the newly launched top-of-the-line Samsung Galaxy S 2, the South Korean manufacturer has more Galaxy S members. Today we took each of them for a hands-on spin, starting with the Galaxy Ace.

The Ace is apparently the best of the four Galaxy Android handsets (the other three are the Fit, the Gio and the Mini). Obviously Samsung is aiming to convince those consumers not looking for a high-end Android handset or those folks that can’t afford even the subsidized Galaxy S models to still choose a Samsung Galaxy experience.

The Ace is has handled itself pretty well. The phone responds fast to commands, it’s running Android 2.2 Froyo under the hood and will offer you a 3.5-inch display. Add to that an 800MHz processor and you end up with a phone that has about the same processing power as the T-Mobile G2, the size of an iPhone and offers and Galaxy-like experience. Too bad about the plasticky feeling you get when handling but otherwise you’re certainly going to enjoy this top-of-the-line-but-not-flagship Samsung Android creation.

No words on pricing details and launch dates yet, but we’ll keep you in on those secrets once we find them out.
