MWC 2011: Android to Shine in Spain But We Will be Still Talking Apple During the Event
As you already know, we are going to extensively cover MWC 2011 just as we did with CES earlier this year. And while we are very much aware that the Spanish event is going to be very much centered on Google’s mobile OS when it comes to new smartphone and tablet releases, that doesn’t mean we will forget all about Apple this week.

In fact chances are that no matter what hot Android devices are going to be unveiled by the likes of HTC, Motorola, LG, Samsung and others, we’ll still start comparing everything with the iPhone and iPad, current and future versions.
Just look what happened this week: HP had a major media event during which we’ve seen three major webOS devices, the Veer, the Pre 3 and the TouchPad. The tech world focused on them for five minutes and then we started comparing them to current and future iOS devices. Even better, someone started the iOS crazy rumor-mill and devices like the iPad 3, scheduled to be launched in September, the $200 iPhone nano and the smaller iPad emerged.
These rumors then spread through the regular channels and soon the world was talking about Apple vaporware products at a time when other things were actually happening (besides HP, Dell also had a presentation this week, and following HP we’ve witnessed the Nokia-Microsoft marriage.)
We’ll focus on Android this week, even if I’ll be using mostly devices designed in California and manufactured somewhere in Asia, but whenever we’ll share specs features, pricing details and release dates with you, we or you will involuntarily think about Apple’s iOS current and future lineups and compare these new gadgets with the unannounced elephants in the room, the iPad 2 and the iPhone 5.
What would be even more interesting, although not really surprising if you ask me, is to see Apple announce the iPad 2 media event and even send out keynote invites at some point later next week. During MWC 2011!
In the mean time remember to follow us around at least virtually, while we’re in Barcelona, by subscribing to the feed and checking intermittently our twitter accounts!

Wow. What a very narrow minded article. Hardly worth writing really? You basically said that there’s a lot of cool stuff going on and you’re going to ignore it because it is not made by Apple! Madness! I know your fondleslab is shiny, but actually have a look at what other people are bringing out and judge them on their own merit.
LG Optimus 3d – case in point.
Thanks!
@Bob You so totally missed the point.
