Blizzard Wants Diablo 3 Out In 2011, We're Not Holding Our Breath
There’s no better way to stoke the fires of press exposure than to gently tease the dreams and expectations of a rabid community with deniable announcements that you’ll never be held accountable for. Blizzard, however, are incredibly careful not to promise anything specific. So, does Blizzard think Diablo 3 is actually coming out in 2011? Don’t worry, we’ll do the translating.

“We really, really hope so. That’s our goal,” says Blizzard VP Rob Pardo, which basically means “No”. “Our goal is to get there. But you know, at the end of the day, we are going to get it right. That’s more important,” he further explained, meaning “We certainly want you to hold out hope and hype the hell out of the game on forums and whatnot, but the answer is, of course, still no”.
“We’re going to promise, we’re going to get it out there when it’s awesome. And, we’re crossing our fingers, maybe it will be this year,” he went on. I had to resort to our phrasebook for that one, but the gist of it is “We’ll be releasing Diablo: Sorceress around 2016 and you’ll get to buy the other portions of the game over the coming years and feel like this is your choice and your privilege. We can fulfill your innermost desires, we own you and everything you stand for, do not cross us for you have not yet known suffering as we can inflict it.” Or something along those lines.
