HTC Thunderbolt Release Date Is February 24
Everywhere you look it’s Thunderbolt this, Thunderbolt that, and frankly, for such a hot Android handset as the Thunderbolt is supposed to be, we’re getting a little tired of all the drama. Because lately that’s all we get. Whether Verizon has good grounds to really postpone the device, or whether we’re looking at a carrier’s caprice, it’s still pretty annoying to existing Thunderbolt customers not to come out with a release date.

After all there are plenty of Best Buy customers that eagerly pre-ordered the device starting with February 14 and it would only be fair to them for Big Red and Best Buy to properly launch the device. These early adopters were told the phone was coming on February 13 or February 14 and they were also given official pricing details although Verizon never shared that kind of information with the world.
Just earlier today we told you that the HTC Thunderbolt, the first 4G LTE Android smartphone coming to Verizon, was spotted at the FCC. Moreover rumor has it that there’s something wrong with that elusive Mobile Hotspot feature of the Thunderbolt that’s preventing it to work appropriately. Apparently that would be the reason Verizon wants to postpone the device.
Now we hear from BGR that the Thunderbolt will be sold only on February 24 by both Best Buy and Verizon, which is 10 days after that Valentine’s Day initial release date, and two weeks after the official release of the Verizon iPhone 4; just in case you were counting.
That February 24 date seems pretty “solid” but there’s no way to confirm it without a properly written Verizon press release. And there’s no reason for the delay either so we’ll keep digging for you. In the mean time, let us know how Best Buy is treating you, in case you pre-ordered the device, and keep following our feed and Twitter streams for more Thunderbolt info.

Pre-ordered the 6th – havent heard a word from BB since.
i’ve been in the 86th St and Lexington Best Buy every day since superbowl sunday when i preordered. every time they swear to me that it’s coming out on monday for $550.
I called best buy today and they said the thunderbolt want be released until early March.
I have a $100 credit for my new every two that I’ve been holding onto for this phone. VZ doesn’t have a release date, plan info… so frustrating.
Had wanted to preorder through BB but that would forfeit the credit. :(
