Walmart Confirms Verizon iPhone Availability, Will Be In Store On February 10th

Verizon and Apple opened up their websites for general sales of the iPhone 4 as of today, and while that may be news enough for some, there is always the option of making an in-store purchase. Of course, both Apple as well as Verizon Wireless retail stores will have the iPhone 4 available but we have also received word that it will be available with Walmart.

“We’re excited to bring iPhone 4 on the Verizon Wireless network, one the most anticipated mobile phone launches in recent history, to Walmart customers,” said Gary Severson, senior vice president, Home Entertainment, Walmart U.S. “As customers continue to embrace smart phone technology, we’ve added nearly 20 smart phone models to our assortment, including the new Verizon Wireless iPhone 4.”

One point in terms of the in-store availability — that will begin on February 10th. Otherwise, Walmart will be matching the price in that the 16GB model will be $199 and the 32GB model will be $299, both of which require two-year agreements with Verizon.

That said, one nice part about having the Verizon iPhone available with Walmart may come down to location and for some they may have a Walmart closer than a Verizon or Apple retail store. In terms of which Walmart locations will have the iPhone available, that was not specifically detailed. However according to the details in the press release, you can expect to find it at “nearly 600 of the retailer’s in-store wireless areas.” In other words, a quick call to your local Walmart may be in order to avoid a wasted trip.

And similar to what we saw with the launch of the AT&T branded iPhone 4, those who head in for a Verizon iPhone will also be able to check out a “variety” of accessories including cases, car chargers, wraps and hands free accessories from variety of accessory manufacturers.
