MetroPCS Gets Official With The Samsung Galaxy Indulge Android Smartphone

Samsung Galaxy Indulge Smartphone Announced For MetroPCS, Will Bring Android 2.2, 4G LTE Support, 3.5" Display & Contract Free Price Of $399

Samsung has announced their latest offering — the Galaxy Indulge, which is coming to MetroPCS and will be the “world’s first commercially available 4G LTE Android smartphone.” Yup, it seems that MetroPCS has topped the bigger players and will have a 4G LTE capable Android smartphone available in just a few days.

“Mobile consumers no longer have to choose between low cost service and high-end Android handsets. Instead, they can truly have it all by being able to select from a full spectrum of feature and smartphones paired with 4G LTE services at an unmatched value.”

The details in the press release do not offer a specific release date, but the do list it as “later this week” and given today is already Wednesday, we can say one thing with certainty — the wait will not be all that long. Moving on though, to something they did specifically confirm, the price. The Samsung Galaxy Indulge will be $399, and that is a contract free $399.

Otherwise, in terms of specs, the Galaxy Indulge will come touting Android 2.2 Froyo as well as a 3.5 inch HVGA (320 x 480) touchscreen display, slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 1GHz processor, 3.2 megapixel camera with auto-focus, Wi-Fi, Stereo Bluetooth, microSD card slot and a 1500 mAh Li Ion battery. In terms of overall size and weight, those specs are 5.2 (L) x 2.4 (W) x 0.6 (D) and 5.35 ounces. Other details include that the Galaxy Indulge will ship with a 4GB microSD card and a full version of Iron Man 2.

And lastly, in terms of the plans that will be available. Those include the $50 and $604G LTE smartphone service plans which include unlimited calling, messaging and data as well as other perks such as navigation by way of the MetroNavigator app. Of course, these plans are month to month with no contracts required. Bottom line, this seems to be a nice phone, and even at $400 it seems fairly reasonable compared to some of the contract free pricing with other carriers.
