Dell Adamo Gets Discontinued
Stick a fork in the Dell Adamo laptop, folks–just be sure you unplug it from the wall first–because it is officially done like dinner. That’s right, the frequently discounted, often retooled laptop that was once dubbed a competitor to the Macbook Air has been officially benched, with no more supplies expected.

It’s not really a surprise; you’ve already seen here a couple times now about discounts and retooling on the Dell laptop, so there really had to come a point at which Dell just wasn’t going to go messing around with it any more, and this was that point.
Of course, it didn’t help that it didn’t really do a great job of competing in the arena in which it was actually set to compete in the first place; that is, for a Macbook Air killer, it really didn’t do much to kill the Macbook Air. It was a super-expensive laptop that had unsettlingly lower end specs–toward the end it got closer in line to what you’d expect in terms of pricing, but it was still a pretty costly piece of hardware for what you got. And considering that Dell’s looking to trot out a whole slew of new ponies by the end of the year (as we only just discovered yesterday), well, it stands to reason that they needed some room in the barn. And the Dell Adamo was just getting a little long in the tooth. What a difference two months makes, huh? Many were thinking that this one might actually be able to put up a fight on the Macbook Pro, but while the Apple item kept improving, the Dell Adamo didn’t see so many upgrades as it did price cuts.
So if you were looking to get your hands on what is now a chunk of computer history, you may want to act fast–there will be no replacements, and once the current stock is sold out, they’re sold out for good.
