Sprint Kyocera Echo Dual Screen Android Smartphone Ad Available

Kyocera Echo Brings Both Screens to Life in Short Commercial; We Take Another Look at Specs & Features

The Sprint Kyocera Echo is, well, a very strange smartphone project and Sprint is placing its mobile hopes and dreams on this particular baby. Instead of going for an HTC, Samsung, Motorola or LG, Sprint partnered up with Kyocera to try to fight the iPhone buying spree, currently going on at Verizon, not to mention the upcoming plethora of 4G Android handsets hitting AT&T or Big Red.

The phone itself is an interesting concept, but I’ll have to say I’d be pretty reluctant to buy it myself. One touchscreen display is more than enough for a smartphone. If you need two of them then you could be looking for a tablet that can make phone calls. Yes, you’ll say, a tablet is not foldable, and you’d be right. But it could be slimmer than the Echo.

In the mean time let’s take a look at an Echo commercial already released by Sprint but before we show you the video we’ll offer you a quick rundown of specs and features, just so we make sure you know what the Kyocera Echo has to offer:

  • Two 3.5-inch touchscreen displays that turn into a 4.7 “giant” panel
  • Sprint’s nationwide 3G network and Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g)
  • Wi-Fi hotspot capability, which supports wireless connections for up to five devices
  • 5-megapixel camera with flash, autofocus and digital zoom
  • 720p HD camcorder to quickly capture those on-the-go memorable moments
  • Corporate (Exchange ActiveSync) and personal (POP & IMAP) e-mail, IM (Google Talk), text messaging
  • Media player with a 3.5 mm stereo headset jack
  • Stereo Bluetooth® 2.1 (+ EDR)
  • Full HTML Web browser with Google Search
  • 1GHz Snapdragon processor (QSD 8650 Android)
  • 1 gigabyte (GB) of onboard memory and an 8GB microSD card for the external memory card slot supporting cards up to 32GB
  • Voice and text prompts in both English and Spanish
  • Spare 1,370 mAh spare battery and low-profile charging cradle in the box
  • Android 2.2 Froyo and support for all Google apps
  • Mobile Hotspot support
  • GPS

Kevin already showed you the various modes the phone will offer yesterday so we can go ahead and take a look at that official ad.

Would you buy this strange-looking, mind-boggling and pretty original Android phone? Could it really fight the iPhone and the popular Android crowd?
