Kyocera Echo Outed By Sprint Webpage

Sprint Website Accidentally Spills The Beans On The Rumored Dual-Screen Android Device Ahead Of Sprint's Press Event Tonight

Sprint is holding a press event in New York City tonight, where magician  David Blane will be in attendance. I’m disappointed we weren’t invited, especially because Sprint promised “irresistible culinary creations”. But, regardless, this morning, our man Robert Nelson told you about speculation that Sprint would be announcing the Kyocera Echo at the event. Now – an accidental early posting on Sprint’s web page has accidentally given us an early glimpse at what the Kyocera Echo could be.

Searching for “Echo” on Sprint’s webpage will reveal a listing for the Kyocera Echo, which is billed as “Kyocera Echo, the first dual-touchscreen smartphone.” I actually will argue with them on that. I reviewed the Samsung Continuum from Verizon and that phone had a small, 1-inch “ticker” screen that could display incoming text messages, RSS feeds, weather, etc. Granted, it wasn’t a big second screen, but I’ve got to give the Continuum the nod for the first dual-screen phone. What do you think?

The description field in the Sprint search results says:

The Kyocera Echo smashes the last barrier between you and the ultimate mobile experience. Its unique dual-touchscreen, pivot hinge design gives you all the space you need to run the apps that connect you to the people and information you need every day. Spread your work across all 4.7 inches of combined display or use each smaller display independently to run multiple apps. Closed, the Kyocera Echo is a pocket-friendly smartphone. Open it and expand your world.

Pretty interesting. Attempting to click the link will just take you to a “page not found” site. Sprint has apparently hidden the page itself, but not the search results. Sort of a funny oversight, if you ask us. This story was featured on Engadget, the top tech blog in the world about 40 minutes ago (at press time) and it still appears on Sprint’s web page.

Kyocera Echo, could be interesting, and it sounds like we’ll see it unveiled tonight. Are you interested in this phone? Will it be a Nintendo DS that can make phone calls? Tell us what you think in the comments section.
