HTC Thunderbolt Pricing & Release Date Confirmed by Early Adopters
As you already know the HTC Thunderbolt has been available for pre-order for a day now and while Best Buy’s website didn’t reveal pricing details and launch dates and Verizon is still keeping quiet on these subjects, early Thunderbolt adopters have been told such secrets and we can share them with you right away.

Yesterday we were reminding you that a previous rumor warned us that the Thunderbolt could be delayed so Verizon could make the most of the iPhone 4, which is coming to stores in just a few days, on February 10, but various readers came in to tell us they have been told the final, on contract, price tag and/or the launch day for the HTC smartphone.
The pre-order process was available in-store only so that’s where our readers have gotten their information in the first place. Most of them said the Thunderbolt will cost $249.99 on contract (although some said they still have to pay $150 on top of the initial $50 to get the phone when it launches) and that the phone will be available either on February 13 or on February 14. All this is pretty consistent with what we’ve heard before, but we still need the officially official confirmation, which will come from Verizon and Verizon alone.
The Thunderbolt will be most-likely part of Best Buy’s newly launched Buy Back program, and, according to the information we received so far, the price for 4G service is the same as the price for 3G service which sounds just a little too good to be true. Naturally we’ll be back with more details on 4G LTE plans for the Thunderbolt as they become official.
We’re definitely thankful to our readers for having stepped up with details related to their Thunderbolt pre-orders and we’re looking forward to hear more from you, especially if you have paid your $50 deposit for an HTC Thunderbolt.

I tried to go and reserve mine yesterday afternoon but I was told to come back today to do it because the Best Buy near my house could not pull up a form online or something. I’m going to try again after work today. Hopefully it will work today. I’m excited!!!
ordered one yesterday at Best Buy. Provided $50 and got a $50 gift card to be used toward the purchase of the phone. Was told the price is $249 for either new contract or upgrade contract. Was also told that the data plan was $15 for 2GB or $30 unlimited which I though was very reasonable. Can’t wait until next Monday!
yeah i pre ordered mine yesterday and the guy told me the phone would be available Valentine’s Day which is the 14th.
i preordered my Thunderbolt yesterday and was given confirmation on price and date of release. price is: $199 (-50 dollar deposit=$150) date is Feb. 14th. cant wait!! :)
Hey Chris- wanted to let you know that I just picked up my $50.00 prepay gift card for the Thunderbolt at Best Buy, Greensboro NC and was told “it will be in on the 14th”.
Thanks for keeping all of US posted!
Woot Woot! I can’t wait for this beauty!
I got the very first pre-order at our Best Buy. Our discussion leaned towards availability on the 17th however. He did say they tend to get them a few days early so maybe that’s where the 14th comes in?
I Preorder my HTC thunderbolt @ bestbuy as well….my driod broke and Im super excited about this phone, what Im not excited about is all these different reviews about delays I have been without a phone for about 2weeks waiting on this phone and Im not waiting no longer then Monday this is rediculous….Big deal Iphone…seriously get over it the design is the exact same so nuthin new but the provider they shudnt make us wait to promote sales ggeesshh
I just preordered two yesterday and the manager assured me it would be ready on the 14th. She pulled out a form she received and showed me release date. I’m hopefully optimistic.
I pre-ordered my Thunderbolt at Best Buy Friday evening. I was told that the original February 14th release date was moved back to an undisclosed date. The rep at Best Buy told me that he believed it would be available on February 24th, but could not give any guarantee. The only thing I was assured is that the device would *not* be available on the 14th as originally speculated. However, the pre-order form I was required to fill out had a spot for my phone number, and I was told that they would call me to set up a pick-up appointment as soon as they could confirm a release date.
I had pre orderd mine last weekend. They were not sure of the release date and told me it was $ 250.00 flat rate. But I was also told by Verizon that I wouod still receive the 100.00 rebate. I will be upgrading . Not sure how true this is. anyone know?
